We were privileged to procure this rare example of Barossa history and as a result created the Negociant Series label, for when opportunities like this arise.
The grapes were picked as raisins at 21°Be, partially fermented, before the fermentation was stopped by fortification using 8-year-old brandy spirit. It then remained for 37 years in old American oak casks formerly used for ageing Amontillado sherry. The resulting wine has aromas of apricot, pear and toffee with delicious raisin sweetness, yet finishing dry, lively and fresh.
